In the last Guthrie Center School Board meeting, Denovo Construction presented their initial findings from their inspection of the elementary and high school buildings.

The Board hired Denovo to do these assessments, so that they can see what things need to be done to help improve their buildings. The high school building was built in 1975, and has an estimated replacement cost of $31,059,000, which is what it would take to construct the building from scratch today.

Denovo found that HVAC, electrical and some on-site issues needed to be addressed. The biggest part of it was the on site issues, which were in the Family Consumer Science room. There’s ventilation in the room, since it uses gas range ovens, but it could use some more. A new fire suppression system for the ovens was suggested as well. While both the elementary and high school can use some work, Denovo Representative Patrick Davis said both buildings are in good condition for their age. The Board will take some time to look over the information that Denovo presented, and decide what path they want to take from there.
