IAwrestle has the Greene County Rams ranked seventh in Class 2A heading into the 2023 portion of the season. Led by seniors McKinley Robbins and Kale Petersen, both ranked number one, and junior Gavin Scheuermann, a top 12 finisher last season, Coach Zach Beekman’s squad features those three in the rankings. Petersen has been at 132 lbs. so far this season, although he’s top ranked at 126. Robbins sits atop the 138 lbs. rankings, the weight he’s been at since the season began, and Scheuermann is rated seventh at 152 lbs. He’s only been on the mat for the Dec. 20 five team meet in Jefferson where he went 4-0 at 160 lbs.

Osage occupies the top spot in the 2A ratings with Notre Dame, West Burlington second, followed by West Delaware (Manchester), Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Webster City,, and Glenwood.

This is the first season all three classes of wrestling in Iowa will use District tournaments as the only State qualifier. In the past, 1A and 2A schools also had Sectional tournaments. Greene County has been assigned to the 2A District in Webster City on Feb. 11, 2023. This is also the first time there will be 24 qualifiers for each of the 14 weight classes at State.
