For those looking to get their Real ID Gold Star on their driver’s license, the Guthrie County Treasurer’s Office can help.
Kim Christensen with the treasurer’s office tells Raccoon Valley Radio that to get the Gold Star, residents need to bring four things with them to the treasurer’s office.
“So if you don’t have a Gold Star currently, you would need your proof of ID. The second thing is your proof of Social Security. The best thing for that is your Social Security card. If you don’t happen to have that, you can use a W2 or 1099, (a) pay stub, bank or credit card statement. Something that has your Social Security number completely on it, and not exed out. The third thing is your proof of legal name change, and then you also need your proof of residency, and you’ll need two items to show your proof of residency.”
For proof of ID, Christensen says individuals will need an official birth certificate, valid U.S. Passport, or most recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services immigration or refugee document. She adds that for proof of residency, a utility bill, bank or credit card statement, pay stub, or any piece of postmarked mail will work, as long as it has your physical address on it. The proof of legal name change would only be required for those it applies to.
