The Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustees met this past Tuesday in regular session.

The meeting started with an over one hour discussion regarding the orthopedic service line. The conversation centered on losing patient referrals for services to other healthcare entities. Following the discussion, it was decided that there would be a series of lunch and learns for primary care providers about the types of orthopedic services the medical center offers, as well as starting clinics for that on Mondays.

During reports, it was mentioned that cataract services were temporarily reduced due to the main visiting provider with Wolfe Eye Clinic was leaving for another job and there wasn’t going to be a replacement announced until this upcoming summer. It was also mentioned that due to supply chain issues, the air handling system for the clinic area wasn’t going to be completed until this upcoming May.

CEO Chad Butterfield shared that they are averaging 22 same day appointments and that the county recently experienced its 27th covid-related death.

Finally, the 2023 Board officers were approved and those included Jim Schleisman will continue to serve as president and Doug Hawn as vice president.
