A blizzard warning remains in effect for the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

According to the National Weather Service, Greene, Guthrie and Dallas counties are under a blizzard warning until tomorrow morning at 6am. There are wide areas of blowing snows expected today as strong winds continue to gust as high as 50 miles per hour. Temperatures could also be as low as 40 degrees below zero with wind chill. 

The National Weather Service reports Jefferson had a new record low temperature Thursday of 15 degrees below zero and the previous record was set in 1989 at nine degrees below zero. Guthrie Center also had a new record low temperature of 14 degrees below zero, with the previous record of eight below zero in 2008. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for Greene, Guthrie and Dallas counties from 6am-noon tomorrow. 

Road conditions continue to vary across the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, most of the roads in Greene and Dallas counties are partially covered with snow, while most of the roads in Guthrie County are completely covered. Dallas County is under a tow ban at this time. The National Weather Service reports Jefferson had 2.6 inches of snowfall during the storm, Guthrie Center had 2.5 inches and Perry received two inches.
