Certified enrollment numbers are a big thing for school districts.

The amount of students a district has determines what kind of funding they can receive from the state. Adair-Casey / Guthrie Center Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says this year the Guthrie Center School District is up by five students. He adds that the district is happy with where they’re at.

“Really, overall, looking at our grade levels, (there’s) a lot of consistency with numbers. Our preschool is full, so we feel good about where we’re at with our numbers.”

Rasmussen tells Raccoon Valley Radio that in the last few years, the district has lost students, so they were pleasantly surprised to see an increase.
