It was Greene County at Nevada on Tuesday night in the last girl/boy basketball games of 2022. The Cubs won the girls’ game 51-10 to improve to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference while the Rams fell to 0-8, 0-5. Nevada won the boys’ game by a score of 87-56 and is now 7-1, 5-1. Greene County fell to 6-5, 2-3.

Greene County trailed 27-6 at halftime of the girls’ game. Grace Hardaway scored three points to lead the Rams in scoring. The running clock went into effect when the margin reached 35 points in the last quarter. The Cubs made seven baskets from three-point range and were led by Reagan Davis with 11 points and Isabelle Nelson with 10.

A 10 point halftime lead at 41-31 turned into a 31 point Nevada victory in the boys’ game. the Cubs poured in 16 three-point shots to five of the long range baskets for the Rams. The Cubs had 24 points from Jacob Kounsoureth to lead all scorers. Seniors Jesse Miller and Richard Daugherty had 22 and 15 points, respectively for the Rams. Miller’s points were a season high. Nevada held a 43-29 rebounding edge and they had just 11 turnovers to 14 for the Rams.
