The Dallas County Supervisors approved to fill a county vacancy at their meeting on Tuesday.

The Board approved by a vote of two to one to appoint Jeannine Ritchie as the new county attorney. The lone no vote came from Supervisor Kim Chapman. He stated in the meeting he wanted to hold interviews with candidates before appointing a county attorney. Ritchie will fill the position of the current county attorney Charles Sinnard after he was appointed as a district court judge.

Then the Board approved a $5,000 contribution towards the Community Attraction and Tourism Grant for the city of Dallas Center for their pool renovation, which is contingent on the city getting the grant. They approved the second reading for the amendments to the chapter 45 zoning ordinance, temporary construction to Pioneer Avenue Bridge Replacement Project for $320, using American Rescue Plan Act Funds for up to $522,000 for storm sewer replacement projects, and placing holiday lights on the former Culligan and Bail Bonds buildings.

Also the Board tabled the Des Moines area farm storage building and the courthouse rising damp report, and a quote for further pursuit of a formal contract. Finally, the Board went to a closed session for the purchase of real estate.
