Two hunting seasons recently got started and will run for a little over three weeks.

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Late Muzzleloader and the Archery Late Split Seasons are from December 19th through January 10th. DNR Conservation Officer Dustin Eighmy reminds hunters to wear 100 percent solid blaze orange in order to be seen and to make sure the outside and inside of any blind that meets the requirement of the law.

“Always have a good backstop, know where you are shooting, point your muzzle in a safe direction when you are handling that firearm at all times and just be safe out there. We want you (hunters) to come home and have a good safe hunt.”

He also reminds hunters to make sure they have a valid hunting license for these seasons, but they need to be renewed in January for 2023.
