The Guthrie Center School Board met in regular session Monday.

The Board reviewed and approved all consent items, before hearing initial findings from Denovo Construction about the condition of the school buildings. Denovo gave their preliminary findings, and then told the board how they came to their Facility Condition Index Score. Both the Guthrie Center Elementary building and the high school building scored about .2, but the Denovo representatives told the board that for as old as the buildings are, they’re in pretty good shape. They also gave a list of things that caused the buildings to be given the score they had and an estimated replacement cost for both buildings.

Adair-Casey / Guthrie Center Superintendent Josh Rasmussen informed the Board that he had received an email about an idea making its way to the Iowa State Board of Education on a new classification system for athletics. He also presented some information about the Simbli Board Management Software. The Board then approved a modified supplemental amount for the At Risk/Dropout Prevention Program. The Guthrie Center School District was offered a supplement of $74,149, and will need to pay 25 percent, or $24,716 of that total.
