The City of Perry recently promoted Josh Wuebker to Public Works Director and he is excited to start the job.
Wuebker has lived in Perry his whole life and is a graduate of Perry High School and has two degrees from Iowa State University and Drake University. He has worked in the Perry Public Works Department for 20 years and has recently served as the Deputy Director. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it is a great feeling to be able work his way up.
“It’s great! It’s a great feeling to be able to work in this community and just continue to keep growing. We have a great department. We have amazing staff. We just hired a new public works superintendent, Mike Landals. He’s been there for 17 years. Guy is just full of knowledge, very well respected and looked up to by all his fellow employees. And it’s just great we have a really great team and I’m just really excited and fortunate to be able to work for the City of Perry.”
Wuebker describes a few projects and goals he would like to accomplish this winter.
“One thing that we’re really working on is ash trees. This winter, we’re going to be trying to cut down some of the ash trees in town that that we can handle ourselves that are a little bit smaller, not in power lines. So that’ll be one of our main projects that we’ll be working on. Keep doing some equipment, stuff, work like that.”
Wuebker also states that in the summer they plan on doing a lot of concrete work that includes street patches around town. In this new position he will overlook the operations in the Wastewater Treatment Facility, Municipal Airport, and Street and Sanitation Departments.
