A winter storm has started moving through the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

According to Weatherology Meteorologist Ray Miller, residents in Guthrie, Dallas and Greene Counties can expect a good amount of precipitation, though not the kind that is most common this time of year.

“Primarily rainfall coming down. That’s really going to cut into our chances of seeing any measurable snowfall. Colder air moves in on the backside of this system Wednesday night into Thursday, and that could bring us a little bit of light snow, but we’re really just talking about a dusting of accumulation, maybe an inch in a few spots. Any significant snow with this is going to stay well off to our north, up along the Minnesota border.”

Miller says that the rain and warmer ground temperatures from early in the week will be the main reason that snow will melt, and any accumulation will be unlikely, especially with some areas looking at half an inch of rainfall. He adds low temperatures at night could produce a scattering of snow, but not much.
