The Perry community is putting together a free dinner on Christmas for the 17th time and everyone is invited.
The Free Christmas Dinner will be on December 25th from 11 to 1:30pm at the Perry Elks Lodge. Organizer Deb Miller says this dinner is made on the spot which includes pork loins, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, salad and desserts. Miller says there will be a to-go option and also they transport anyone willing to come. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they served 400 people last year with this meal and they look to serve more this year.
“This is not for the low income. This is for all of us to come and celebrate with each other, thank each other for the years that we’ve had, the growth we’ve had, and what happened in our community.”
Miller says this is strictly put on by the Perry community but people from surrounding areas are welcome. Miller notes they will be accepting a free will donation which will be given to the Perry Food Pantry. She adds that they are looking for a few more volunteers to help with preparing and serving the meal.
