Carter Morton, a third year track & field athlete at the University of Northern Iowa and a 2020 Greene County High School graduate from Jefferson, won the ISU Holiday Invitational heptathlon. Morton set a new personal best with 5,651 total points, 250 more than runner-up Thai Thompson of Iowa State. Morton won the pole vault on Saturday at 15′ 1″, a PR, and he won three of the seven events over the two days, including the high jump at 6′ 10-3/4″ and the long jump at 23′ 5-1/4″. His point total was some 500 better than one year ago at this same meet. The ISU Holiday Invitational was held in Ames inside the Lied Student Recreation Center.
