A holiday themed retail event continues in Jefferson.

Promotions Team and Fudge’s Flowers and Gifts Owner Bonnie Silbaugh is one of the participating businesses for the “Oh! What Fun” promotion that supports local retailers and businesses. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the retailers want to create a fun atmosphere for people to do their shopping, with some local flare with the #experiencejefferson.

“I don’t know anytime you do ‘experiencewalmart’ or ‘experiencesomething’ for a hashtag, so any experience I’ve had is usually stressful. So these are fun, most family-friendly, sometimes adult only- which is even fun as well – but we really want people to #experiencejefferson, to experience dining, to experience shopping and enjoy what we have to offer.”    

Sibaugh points out local businesses can cater to several ways that people can give gifts this holiday season, such as gift cards, unique items and things for Secret Santa presents.

“So start thinking, especially other businesses, that’s one thing I think, a lot of people support local, but a lot of other businesses support other local businesses. So as your doing your holiday parties, your gift exchanges in the office, start just looking local and you’d be really surprised at some of the options that are available.” 

Silbaugh adds the last quarter of the year is critical for local businesses and she urges people to always shop local first.
