The Board of Dallas County Supervisors recently approved the Dallas County Health Improvement Plan which details steps to improve the overall health in the county.
Dallas County Health Department Information Officer Ann Cochran says there was a lot of work the health department and Dallas County Hospital put into this plan to guide them to promote public health in many new ways. Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio this plan focuses on everything from nutrition, to physical activity, access to clinics and builds on the number one ranking for the Dallas County Hospital for positive health factors.
“We keep in mind that our county is diverse in many ways. We have both rural, and suburban, and city. We have people who speak other languages than English, and we have folks who have always, always had a primary physician and folks who have never had that privilege. So what we’re trying to do is track improvements in a lot of those areas.”
