This weekend the Stuart Police Department will be doing Shop with a Cop.

Shop with a Cop is a program the police departments around the nation do to take children in their precinct, and help spread some joy during the holidays. Stuart Police Officer Katie Guisinger says that the department will be taking 10-12 children and head into West Des Moines to Target on Mills Civic Parkway to go shopping so the children can get gifts for their families. After shopping, they’ll go to the Pizza Ranch in Waukee for lunch before returning to Stuart, where they will wrap the gifts before taking the children home.

West Central Valley School District has partnered with the police department for this, and will provide transportation for the day.
