The Perry Girls Soccer team held an event on Wednesday that is intended to give back to the community.

The Jayette’s soccer program held a winter clothing drive targeted for elementary school students. Organizer and plays midfield for the Jayettes Amy Diaz says that she was very happy with all the donations given from gloves, heavy jackets, stocking caps and all of the cash donations. Diaz tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they decided to start this clothing drive.

“Just my sister’s a teacher, and she had told me about some of her students that didn’t have winter gear and that they needed them. And I thought that this is something I could do to help the community and the little kids.”

The Jayettes will deliver the clothing on Friday from 5:30 to 6:30pm at the Perry Elementary school.
