For eight minutes Tuesday night, the Perry girls half court defense had the gym in State Center very quiet.  Perry carried a 7-5 lead into the start of the second quarter only to see unbeaten West Marshall go on a 24-9 run to open up a double digit lead at halftime and cruise to a 52-35 Heart of Iowa conference victory.  Perry came out focused on the defensive end, forcing the Trojans to use their perimeter game to beat them.  Sophomore guard Bella Borgos found her stroke in the second quarter and was a key for West Marshall in turning the momentum of the game.  All State forward Katy Reyerson was able to get her offensive game going in the second half, as she led all scorers with 20 points.

Lydia Olejniczak played a physical game for Perry, scoring 17 points while providing tough defense on the taller Reyerson.  Regan Baldwin added 14 points.  Katherine West grabbed 8 rebounds in her return to the lineup following an ankle injury.

Perry falls to 0-2 in Heart of Iowa games while West Marshall is now 5-0 and 2-0 in the conference.

Perry travels to Roland Story Friday night.
