Dallas Center Grimes girls wrestling will be competing tonight in Norwalk and Gracie Waage for the Mustangs is chasing her 4th time being at the top of the podium.
Waage has a 14-3 record in the 110 pound division with wins at the Norwalk Girls Invite and the Central Iowa Kickoff Tournament. Head Coach Rex Gray tells Raccoon Valley Radio Sports about Waage’s progression as a wrestler in the DCG program.
“She really just kind of took the off season to work on wrestling, get better at it and just learn the sport. And you can tell this year things have slowed down for her. And on the mat, you can tell that she’s really worked on a lot of different things. So again, much like a couple of other of our girls, just being able to see them take what they learned over the off season and put it into what we’re doing now is just good to see.”
The DCG will weigh in at 4pm and then will hit the mat at 5pm at the Norwalk High School against five other teams.
