The Greene County Treasurer’s Office is shifting its transaction deadline temporarily for same day service.
County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen tells Raccoon Valley Radio any resident that needs same day transactions through her office needs to be done by 4:15pm. She points out anything that is received between 4:15pm and end of business at 4:30pm will be processed the next day. Mechaelsen says this change is due mostly to a financial software update.
“I just want everyone to know the importance of closing the transactions at 4:15(pm), with this new financial software there are a lot of things, there are a lot of additional work that has to be done, either at the end of the day or first thing in the morning. We would like to be balanced (financially) by 4:30pm (daily) so that we can be posted and all discrepancies will be found at the end of the day.”
Mechaelsen notes this update has been needed for quite some time.
“We’ve been told by our IT (Information Technology) Department that they will stop support here soon with the old financial software. We’ve been needing to do this for years. We finally got everybody on board and felt that we are comfortable in our standings as a county to make this change.”
Mechaelsen adds this change will be in effect at least for six months while her staff completes the transition to the new software but she is willing to work with residents that need additional preparation to do a transaction by 4:15pm if they are needing same day service.
