The Perry City Council approved at their latest meeting a service agreement with ClearGov which provides a more modern way to figure their budgets and capital improvement plans.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says that ClearGov is a cloud based budgeting software company which helps local governments shift from paper to a desktop budgeting practice. Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio this system will help with cutting down the time to go through each budget line item by line item.

“Just the efficiency and really going paperless for that budget process is really going to be amazing. So on the internal side, we’re really excited about what that’s going to bring for us and just save time, save stress and headaches and all of the departments are super excited to be able to just upload documents, plans, bids, things like that and have all of that in one place that they can look at.”

Peterson points out that this software will help with transparency.

“This software also has a public side to it that goes through all of our revenues and expenditures exactly to the penny. How much is coming in and out in a very understandable and digestible way.”

He adds that anyone can access this service and even figure out as an example the value of any Perry home and what services are benefiting from those property taxes.ClearGov is expected to have the modular up and running for the capital budgeting that takes place this December for the city of Perry.
