Monday night was a good start to the basketball season for the West Central Valley Wildcats.
After a tough game last week, the girls team came out with a dominant showing against the Southeast Warren Warhawks. The Wildcats scored 16 points in the first quarter, 8 in the second, 22 in the third and finished off the game with 15 points in the fourth quarter to take a 61-26 victory. This is the 7th matchup between the two teams since 2015, with West Central Valley leading in wins 6-1.
The boys team also played Southeast Warren, though things were closer for them. The team only scored 9 points in the first quarter, but was able to come back later on. They ultimately fell short with a 50-58 loss. Junior Nate Gerling was a force to be reckoned with, taking a top 3 spot in three stats. He scored 9 points, had 14 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. This was the 8th matchup between the two teams since 2015, with this latest game being the first loss for the Wildcats.
