Between now and March 3rd, Menlo and surrounding communities can enjoy some indoor exercise.

Menlo’s Adult Winter Walks are returning this year, and an exercise class is being added to the schedule as well. The walks have already started, but will continue through March 3rd, and will occur on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30am to 10am. Menlo Mayor Carol Sheldahl tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this activity started last year as a way to help with health in the community.

“Well. What started is, I started last year and did just the walk. And I really did that for me. I had just got over Covid, and had a long haul. Could hardly walk or anything. So I went to the city and asked them if I could do it. And there was only about eight of us that walked. But you know, that eight of us that walked, needed to walk.”

Sheldahl says that it was just the walks last year, but that this year Amanda Nourse, a certified personal trainer, asked her if she could teach an exercise class as well. The classes will be on Thursdays, and will last from 8:45am to 9:30am, and cost $5 per class. Sheldahl mentions that it’s not just Menlo that can benefit from the walks and classes, but anyone else that would like to come as well. Walks and classes will take place at the Menlo Community Building. If there are any questions, Sheldahl can be reached at 515-710-8514.
