The Adel Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the holiday season with activities to get shoppers out and about.

The Hometown Holiday Celebration will kick off on Friday with the Adel Public Library hosting Ms.Claus with crafts, drinks and cookies provided by the City of Adel. Then there will be a lighting of the tree and wreaths on the Northeast corner of the square at 4:45pm with music played by the local boys and girl scouts. Chamber Director Deb Bengtson tells Raccoon Valley Radio additionally on Friday, there will be a “Let’s Sip and Sample Our Way Around Adel,” which encourages shoppers to enjoy special dishes and drinks at the 25 Adel participating businesses.

“So it’s a good way to get out, be with the community, and also learn more about all of our businesses and their Adel.”

Bengston says the celebration will continue on Saturday with the “Shop and Bingo,” from 10am to 3pm and people can pick up an official bingo card at a participating store. Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be there Friday night broadcasting live from 4-7pm.
