The two school districts in Greene County are continuing their partnership with a statewide organization that helps provide food for less fortunate children.
Greene County and Paton-Churdan participate in the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation through Iowa Select Farms. Each of the district’s backpack programs allows students who are in need to take home food every weekend. The Power Snack Program provides school districts with coupons to school districts for lunch meat and bread. Additionally, the program also provided pork sticks as an easy method for children to receive protein. There are 112 schools in 40 Iowa counties that participate in the Power Snack Program.
Greene County and Paton-Churdan provide additional food items based on what that students need every week.
