The Jefferson City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening.
During open forum, resident Tim Pound requested the Council to reconsider adopting the new state law that allows for utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) to be driven on city streets, as the current city ordinance does not allow for that. He also asked for the topic to be voted on by the full council at a future meeting. The Council took no action.
The Council then approved a $17,426,000 contract to Shank Construction for the wastewater treatment plant improvement project and a $335,835 contract to AccuJet for a sewer lining project. They also set December 13th at 5:30pm for a hearing to borrow an additional $6 million for the sewer revenue loan and disbursement agreement for a total of not to exceed $21 million for the wastewater improvement project. The Council also approved a leave donation policy that if city employees who have additional paid time off could donate that time to other employees who may need it, along with appointing Council members Matt Wetrich and Darren Jackson to the animal shelter committee.
Additionally, the Council approved five development agreement appropriations not to exceed including $101,200 for Jefferson Hotel Group, $34,000 for Lincoln Ridge Estates, $19,000 for Michael and Miranda Wahl, $14,600 for Jefferson Veterinary Clinic and $6,200 for Briarwood. Finally, the Council agreed to direct city staff to look into acquiring two northern properties from the public library for an expansion project that the Library Board of Trustees voted in favor to do and recommended to the Council.
