There are a few days left for Greene County youth to sign up for a popular winter sport.
Greene County Youth Athletic Association is hosting its Rambler Wrestling Club that will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7pm from November 30th through February 24th at the Scranton Community Center. This competitive wrestling program is for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade and is designed to teach youth the appropriate wrestling skills for each age and grade level.
GCYAA President Travis Warnke appreciates the community support they get every year for all of their youth programs and how well everyone treats each other, whether it be in the stands or in a game or a match.
“We have a very good community. The parents, when they come to a game, they don’t say anything about the referees, they don’t say anything about the coaches, especially in front of the athletes. And the reason being is almost all of it is done volunteer.”
Registration fee is $45 per month or $115 for the season for the first wrestler, $30 per month or $80 for the season for a second wrestler, and $20 per month or $50 for the year for a third wrestler in the same household. Registration fee also includes a shirt and shorts. Wrestling shoes are required and no street shoes are allowed. Headgear is recommended but not required. Registration deadline is November 25th.
