The 24th Annual Jefferson Rotary Charity Auction took place this past Friday at the Greene Room Events Center at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson.

The close to 120 online and live auction items, along with cash donations, the Jefferson Rotary raised $41,241. One of the most expensive items went for $1,200 for ten tickets for a luxury suite of a Sunday 2023 Iowa Cubs game at Principal Park, with the winner also throwing out the first pitch.

Rotary President Susan Laehn explains why they wanted to continue to provide a hybrid option of having some auctions online only and some during the in person event last Friday.

“That worked really well for us and it was almost accidental. We started the online component of the auction because of covid, when we didn’t have it a couple of years ago. But we found, actually, we did really well from it. And so we decided to continue doing that, but we do like the comradery, and the community, and the experience of having the in person auction.

In the past 23 years, Jefferson Rotary has raised over $650,000 for local projects and organizations, as well as Jefferson Rotary International.
