The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is looking to replace a number of their patrol vehicles but the supply chain issues have been a deterrent.

Sheriff Adam Infante says that it’s tough to get vehicles nowadays and they normally replace their cruisers every three to three and a half years depending on the mileage and repair issues. Infante explains he requested four cruisers from their dealership and they were only able to give him two.

“So we’re going to have to make due so it’s going to be ‘a lean couple of years for vehicles in our office’ and we already have it budgeted so it’s not a money issue, it’s a supply chain issue. “

The Dallas County Supervisors approved at their latest board meeting to purchase a 2022 Ford Police Interceptor for the amount of $55,000. Infante explains this new vehicle would eventually replace their 2016 Dodge Charger in the existing fleet. He plans to still keep that vehicle as a backup.
