A Perry man has been arrested and faces several charges following an alleged October incident in Rippey.

According to court documents, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a 911 call on October 24th to the 600 block of 3rd Street in Rippey just after 6am. Court documents show that 30-year-old Edwin Ochoa-Melena was sending threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend that he would break the windows of her current boyfriend’s vehicle because he didn’t want him around their child.

The criminal complaint reports Ochoa-Melena came to the residence and caused over $2,000 of damage to the vehicle’s windows and windshield, along with another $150 of damages to a security camera on the home. Ochoa-Melena left the scene when the deputy arrived. Later that day, the owner of the vehicle reported over $2,400 was taken from earrings and a pair of sunglasses from the vehicle.

An arrest warrant was issued and Ochoa-Melena was arrested this past Saturday and charged with two Class D Felonies for second degree criminal mischief and second degree theft, along with two aggravated misdemeanors for third degree burglary of a motor vehicle and first degree harassment. He was booked into the Greene County Jail.
