Now that it’s winter and snowfall is here, Panora residents are reminded of the city’s snow ordinance.

Whenever snow begins to fall and for 48 hours after it stops, vehicles are not allowed to park on city streets during snow removal, with the only exception of the west side of North 1st Street between Main and Market. Panora Police Chief Matt Reising says that the department tries to do warnings at the beginning of snow season, because sometimes people forget about the ordinance. After some time though, not moving vehicles can lead to a citation, or to the vehicle being towed.

Reising also says that snow has to be removed off the sidewalks as well. Not cleaning sidewalks is a fineable offense, but he mentions that residents are great about cleaning up, so there aren’t many fines that are issued per year.
