The 35 second shot clock is new to Iowa high school girls and boys basketball this season. Paton-Churdan played an Achieve Scrimmage last Friday in Des Moines at Saydel High School and the coach said the closest his team came to a shot clock violation was getting a shot up with seven seconds remaining, and that happened just once in 32 minutes of playing time.
He added, “We’re going to get shots up, kids get shots up. It’ll only help maybe at the end of a game if teams like to stall, so it’ll at least make some of that go away. I think for the most part of game you’ll not even know that’s it’s on.”
P-C opens the girls and boys basketball seasons on Tuesday, Nov. 29 vs. Boyer Valley in Dunlap in a Rolling Valley Activities Conference doubleheader.
