A project that had a groundbreaking in August of 2021 in Jefferson showed off its new digs this past Sunday with a special event.
The Children’s Center, formerly known as the Greene County Early Learning Center, had a ribbon cutting and public tours that happened on Sunday. What started as a childcare study several years ago came to fruition earlier this year with the completion of a new building that is adjacent to the former facility along Madison Street.
The Children’s Center Board Co-President Jacque Andrew is thrilled with how the project turned out and increasing their capacity to care for children two weeks to fourth graders.
“We are just really happy that we have been able to construct this building that will accommodate 50-percent more children, and that is an economic boon to this area because parents are very concerned about childcare, when they come to a community, they want to have good childcare. Over the years we have proven that we provide quality care in a learning environment and prepare kids for school. So we’re going to keep doing that.”
Director Cherie Cerveny says because they can accept more children, that also means they need more staff.
Those individuals that couldn’t make it to the ribbon cutting, are invited to a Java and Juice program that is scheduled at the facility at 9:30am this Friday.
