The city of Perry had a weekend of Art festivities which marked the 12th Art On The Prairie.
The festival started on November 11th and lasted throughout the weekend. Art On The Prairie was able to host 55 visual artists, 30 musicians and 30 poets for exhibitions and sales in eight downtown Perry historic buildings. Art On The Prairie Board Vice President Lynsi Pysutti says that the cold weather brought in a lot of shoppers with that holiday mindset.
“ But it’s just nice to see all of the open signs out along Second Street. All of the buildings are filled up with shoppers. So it’s just fun to see it all come together.”
Owner Of Betsy Peterson Designs, Betsy Peterson says they had three artists displaying art in their building along with showing their own paintings and sculptures. Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Art On The Prairie lets people experience Perry in a brand new way.
“Long time residents of Perry say back in the day, every Friday night, the streets were full. There’s no parking. People were eating and going to movies and getting groceries And art on the prairie to me, feels like what they describe. There’s people walking around hard to find a parking place, but there’s plenty of public parking and you get to meet just incredible people.”
There was also a slam poetry competition, youth activities and an author book reading from Meghan Cline that participants got a chance to attend.
