A reminder about a special fundraiser concert is happening tonight in Jefferson.

The 2nd Annual Java and Jazz will be at the Greene County High School Auditorium at 7pm. Band Director Wes Anderson says last year they brought the Iowa Women’s Jazz Orchestra and he talks about how this year’s selected jazz group came about.

“A couple of ideas were brought to me by folks in the community that maybe bring out Iowa State (University) jazz band because we do have a lot of our community members have kids that are attending Iowa State, a lot of us are Iowa State fans. So we are bringing out the Iowa State University Jazz Ensemble to play with us.”

The high school jazz band will perform a few songs in the commons at 7pm as everyone enjoys their coffee before heading into the auditorium for the ISU Jazz Ensemble show. The event is a free-will donation with all proceeds going to the Greene County High School Jazz Band program.
