The Greene County Historical Society is starting a brand new program with limited spots available.

This Saturday, the “Leafing Through Greene County History” will be at the historical museum in Jefferson starting at 2pm. Up to 25 people are invited to sit in a circle and initially listen to four Jefferson residents present on certain artifacts from the museum’s collection.

The speakers include Mikki Schwarzkopf, who will discuss the county’s diaries, autograph albums and a registration book from the Head House Hotel; Jed McGee will talk about the different versions of the county courthouses; Mike Pipel will speak on the newspapers, posters, yearbooks and atlases; and Dianne Piepel will go over the county’s historic homes.

The 25 participants are also encouraged to share their experiences with the items that are discussed, while also looking and holding the artifacts. Because only 25 people can participate, anyone interested is to contact program director Margaret Hamilton at 515-386-4408 or email her at hami0017@gmail.com.
