Turnovers and penalties are two areas in the game of football that are difficult to predict prior to kickoff. The 2022 Greene County Rams had a positive turnover margin, which was a factor in the team going 8-2 overall and winning Class 2A District 8 with a 5-0 record.

Of the 11 turnovers the Rams had this season, three were against Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) and four were in the second round playoff game to West Lyon (Inwood), and those were the the two teams the Rams lost against. In the eight wins (one was a forfeit victory vs. Shenandoah) Coach Caden Duncan’s team turned the ball over just four times.

Penalties were an issue at times, but the low number of turnovers helped offset the penalties in some cases. The Rams were able to take the ball away 19 times from the opposition with 12 fumble recoveries and seven pass interceptions.
