With colder days ahead, influenza season is upon us and health officials are continuing to urge people to get a flu vaccine.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf reminds who can get a flu shot.
“It’s recommended for all people six months and older, with a few exceptions, we also have a high dose for the elderly, 65 and older, and that means there’s like four times the protection in that particular vaccine for the flu.”
Wolf points out the peak for flu season is January and February, but if you get a vaccine now, you can be protected throughout the winter months. She adds it takes two weeks for the vaccine to take full effect. Greene County Public Health holds vaccine clinics every Thursday by appointment only.
