Guthrie County residents have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to their veterans.

Something the county does to give help back to veterans, is offer a Veterans Affairs Office. Guthrie County Veterans Affairs Coordinator Beth Watson says that even though she hasn’t been in the position long, she loves being the person for veterans to turn to. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that most of the veterans she sees are older ones.

“Those from the Vietnam Era. So, early 70’s is what I’m seeing currently. Some Gulf, 50 plus. Probably my biggest foot traffic currently. Not so much younger at the moment. So, pretty good Vietnam presence.”

Just because many of the veterans Watson sees are older, doesn’t mean that younger vets can’t come in as well. Area veterans are encouraged to stop by her office in the Guthrie County Courthouse for any help that may be needed, and she’ll do what she can to get everything set in order.
