Dallas Center – Grimes girls basketball is continuing on with their first week of practice today, as they will be looking to put together another terrific year.
They were able to finish 21-4 last year including a 13-1 record in the Little Hawkeye Conference, as they were able to grab a first place performance in the conference. The team was able to qualify for the state tournament, reaching the semifinals before getting knocked out in triple overtime by Cedar Rapids – Xavier 55-50.
The Mustangs lost three starters from that team but still are projected to have a strong roster in 4A for the upcoming season. They will be looking to reclaim one of the best defenses in the state from a year ago as they only gave up 34 points per game, which was number 1 in their class.
If DCG can continue to find good play defensively, they have a skilled roster that should be able to continue to compete at a high level.
DCG basketball will be opening up their season on November 18th when they will host a good team in Ballard.
