Unofficial results for the midterm elections in Guthrie County are in.
There were four seats on the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors that were up for grabs, three of which were contested. For District 1, the incumbent candidate, Republican Jerome J.D. Kuster beat out the Democratic nominee Jacki Sloss, 664 votes to 332. In District 3, Republican candidate Maggie Armstrong won against the Democratic nominee Tom Flanery, 850 votes to 261. In the final contested supervisor election for District 4, Republican nominee Steve Smith won over Democratic candidate Michael Herbert, 674 votes to 273.
The majority of Guthrie County voters also supported mostly Republican candidates in some of the other contested statewide and congressional races. In the contested race for State Representative in District 47, Republican candidate Carter Nordman beat Democratic nominee Gary Clayton Overla, 3,460 votes to 1,383. For United States Senator, incumbent Republican Chuck Grassley beat out Democratic challenger Michael Franken, 3,448 votes to 1,549. For U.S. Representative for District 3, Republican Zach Nunn defeated Democratic incumbent Cindy Axne, 3,359 votes to 1,632. The results from the other counties in the state for Iowa House District 47 and US House 3rd District and statewide results for US Senate are not known at this time.
