Colder days have started in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, and state, county and city road crews are preparing themselves to treat the roadways.

Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern says that the Guthrie County Secondary Road crews will be ready when snow and ice hit the area.

“We have an ample supply of salt. We’ve got a good stockpile of sand as well. We usually start to make a slow transition in the digging. Taper off the digging and start buttoning trucks up for plows.”

Sebern mentions that when a storm does roll through the county, road crews work from 5am-5pm. He says it takes some time to get all the roads cleared, but they try to do as quick and safe of a job as possible. Sebern asks that residents be patient with clean up after storms.
