Running cross-country and playing volleyball during the same season would be hard enough if the sports were at the same school and the same town, but for Paton-Churdan freshmen girls Leah McCormick and Ava Minnehan, they ran cross-country for Greene County in Jefferson and played volleyball for the Rockets in Churdan.
P-C principal Annie Smith talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about what an accomplishment that was. “We know just being a dual sport athlete is difficult enough, but I’m not sure people understand what it took for those girls to do both. A lot of days they would get up and do cross-country in the morning, go to school, then have either volleyball practice after school or a volleyball match at night, and they had to definitely keep up on their studies. So it took a lot of disciple and dedication, and they not only did it, they rocked it!”
