One non-profit organization invites everyone to celebrate their new facility in Jefferson.
The Children’s Center, formerly the Greene County Early Learning Center, completed its new building project, which has been open since late September, at 306 Vine Street. A ribbon cutting and public tours is slated to begin at 2pm on Sunday, November 13th until 4pm.
The new building includes seven classrooms for two week olds to fourth graders, along with a kitchen, a lactation room, additional offices, along with a playground, a sanitation and laundry room. The project started with a childcare study in 2016 which then led to the bigger facility that is adjacent to the former building on Madison Street. Children’s Center Director Cherie Cerveny talks about the most impressive part of the new structure.
“I just think having a building that’s built for early childhood and all the things that went into it, all the thought processes, all the planning, it makes the entire building impressive.”
The Children’s Center went from serving 94 kids to a capacity of 148. Sunday’s ribbon cutting and tours are free and open to the public.
