Tomorrow is the first day of official practice for Greene County and other high school girls’ basketball teams around the state. Tori Ogden begins her second season heading the program and her second as a head coach. The Rams graduated just one player from the 3-19 squad of a season ago, but that player was the leading scorer and rebounder. Brianna Habben scored about one-third of the Rams’ points in 2021-22 and she was the ninth highest point scorer in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and was named to the second all conference team.
Everyone else from a season ago is eligible to return, so a mostly veteran squad looking for offense will be taking the court. Greene County teams have had trouble in recent seasons scoring more than one point per minute on average.
The Rams will play in the Iowa Central Community College Jamboree later this month and the first game that will count on the season record is at home vs. Ogden on Nov. 28 as part of a girl/boy doubleheader broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
