RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program is relatively new to Guthrie County, but has been doing work for decades in Boone County, and almost two decades in Greene County. The program brings in volunteers to help with a variety of programs that they do themselves, or partner with others to bring about.
One program that RSVP brings is its Grocery Assistance-shopping Program (GAP). It’s a free service that helps disabled adults of any age, and individuals that are 60 or older that may have problems getting their groceries from the store to the kitchen.
GAP volunteers do the shopping, and bring those groceries to those that have trouble doing so themselves. The great thing about GAP? Not only do the volunteers help those who need it, the only cost to the ones being helped is for that of the groceries.
