With the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors approving the first reading of a resolution to make Emergency Medical Services an essential service, EMS workers are pleased . The resolution paves the way to appoint a Guthrie County EMS System Advisory Council.
There are still two readings left before the resolution can be approved, but according to Panora EMS Technician Levi Johnson, this is still a big step.
“It’s important for the residents of Guthrie County to know that between Stuart and Panora EMS, there should always be a guaranteed ambulance to respond. Currently in the state of Iowa, no city or entity has to provide EMS service. So this is forward progress.”
The Board won’t be meeting at their regular time next week because of the general election, but the second reading is planned for the next meeting that will be held. More information about the resolution can be found below.
