The Perry High School Drama Department is preparing to hit the stage this week for a performance.
The “Canterville Ghost,” is an Oscar Wilde story on Friday and Saturday starting at 7pm. Drama Director Randy Peterson says that the play is about an American family that moves and buys a house in England but there is a twist.
“They find out that it’s haunted by this old English knight ghost. And so the plot of the story is that they have to try to get rid of the ghosts in some way, shape or form. So then they can live in their new house and they try a bunch of different things. They try to scare the ghosts away. They try all sorts of different things. So it should be a really funny play. It should be pretty entertaining to go to.”
Senior Candance Hosington plays Lucy Otis she says they have been working on this play ever since school started and the drama team has spent many hours after school trying to perfect it.
“It’s been like one of the best parts of my high school experience. I feel like all the hard work brings us all together and to like this family. I also feel like as a senior, it’s kind of sad too like, it’s like our last show, but also it’s cool to see our underclassmen getting the ability to, like, take charge and have these lead roles.”
The shows will be at the Perry Performing Arts Center and tickets will be $5 at the door or online by clicking the link below.
