With many having a busy schedule, it can be hard to make it to a polling place to vote on election day. Fortunately, voters can request an absentee ballot so that their voice is heard in the election if they can’t make it to the polls.
Guthrie County Auditor Dani Fink tells Raccoon Valley Radio that about 1,200 absentee ballots have been requested so far this year, and that’s in person votes at her office, and mail-in ballots. Now though, with it being so close to the election, if a voter would like an absentee ballot they’ll have to vote in person at the Guthrie County Courthouse.
Fink says that to get an absentee ballot, residents can come in and fill out a form. If a resident is already registered to vote in the county, all they need is their drivers license, and they can get started.
If someone has moved into the county since the last election and isn’t registered, they’ll need their drivers license and something with their current address on it to prove they live in the county. That item could be a bill or other form of mail, or if the driver’s license has been updated to show the voter lives in Guthrie County, then that will be accepted as well.
